Murray State senior Ivan Roe and junior MacKenzie Martin each took home a bronze medal recently at the 2017 USA Shooting Championships at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Roe finished third in the men’s 10m air rifle, while Martin was third in the open division of the women’s three-position and second in the junior division. Their medalist finish in each event comes with it an appointment to the National Team, pending approval of their Performance Standard Scores.

“I thought we had good performances from everyone,” said Murray State head coach Alan Lollar.  “Ivan and Kenzie both qualified for the national team, Meike had personal bests and qualified for her first smallbore final and Bobby just missed the air rifle final after he and Shelby both had good smallbore days. Overall the Racers showed up and competed well, I am very proud of all of them.

Roe also finished 19th in the then men’s three-position, while Martin notched a seventh place finish in the 10m air rifle. Other top performances from Racers include senior Robert Broadstreet who was ninth in the men’s 10m air rifle, 16th in men’s prone and 17th in men’s three-position, while Shelby Huber was 30th in three-position and 40th in 10m air rifle. Sophomore Meike Drewell also had a good week as she was ninth in the women’s 10m air rifle and 14th in the women’s three-position.
